Proper handling of your outdoor patio enclosures in the cold will extend their life:
People who live in areas subject to cold winter weather always wonder how our outdoor patio enclosures perform in frigid temperatures. After all, we are from Texas, what do we know about cold weather?
The truth is our outdoor patio enclosures ship to places like Michigan and Wisconsin and we’ve never gotten a complaint about our patio enclosures cracking in cold weather conditions as they are rated to be used below freezing. We credit this to the 20mil vinyl that we use to build our outdoor weather curtains, which is the exact same product that our military uses for its tent windows for tents destined for Alaska. While there are heavier clear vinyl products available for our outdoor patio enclosures, we don’t use them because their overall performance in the cold isn’t much better and the weight of the patio enclosures is much higher than the average person can easily handle.
That said, we don’t recommend that you do not fold, roll, or retract the outdoor patio enclosures when the outdoor temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. If your patio enclosures are up, leave them up, if the patio enclosures are down, leave them down. If you must take them down, fold, or retract them for some reason in the cold weather, we recommend that you use a heater to bring their temperature to above freezing to avoid damaging your curtains. The same is true if you’re installing your these climate control curtains in below freezing conditions.
